Easy Freezer Jam

I love freezer jam. It tastes, SERIOUSLY, just like the fresh fruit. Not like canned jellies and jams. Those taste good but it doesn't taste like the fruit when it's finished. And it is really easy to make! Start to finish  maybe  30 minutes, if that! We've made blackberry, apricot, and strawberry freezer jam this Summer and we're looking forward to the yumminess all winter! If you've never made freezer jam, this deal at Lee's Marketplace makes for a good reason to give it a go! $1.25 a lb is a great price! At my local Lee's they also had 3 lb. containers for 2.99! An even better price point at a buck a pound! You'll need your fruit, a package of pectin (I got the store brand), and sugar. Depending on the kind of fruit you may also need lemon juice. The directions of how much fruit to sugar and if you need lemon juice or not will be in the pectin package.  For strawberry freezer jam you need two cups of crushed strawberries. I used a p...

TV Stand Makeover with DIY Chalk Paint

We have wonderful family members who think of us when they're getting rid of stuff and it's really helped us to furnish our home without breaking the bank. But sometimes the items aren't exactly our style so whaddaya do? Paint is a terrific way to make over a piece of furniture and make it more your style! My parents gave us their old TV stand when they moved. We didn't have anything in our downstairs family room so it gave us a workable set up for kid TV viewing. The TV stand used to have a top section as well, that we decided not to use. Not bad looking, but the orange-y wood laminate is not my favorite, and the basement is already dark so I thought I'd lighten it up. After I made the chalkboard paint for the  tree slice project , I made some more with a paint sample of Sherwin William's Sea Salt. Before I could paint, I needed to fill in the holes on the TV stand where the top section used to connect. I just used spackle, I...

Tree Slice Projects and DIY Chalk Paint Recipe

As promised I have a couple of projects for you! When we moved into our home a year ago, we knew we wanted to do some landscaping but it got put on the back burner with Jackson being a newborn and me being a newly SAHM, Ben was picking up lots of extra shifts so there really wasn't a lot of extra time to attack any of the  fitzers. See?!? So ugly and it was taking up A LOT of room in our yard.  Fast forward - Ben took a chain saw to them and here's what we have now. Look at that rock wall! We had no idea that was behind there. It still needs some tidying up and we're going to have to get someone to take out the stumps, we just couldn't get them out, but progress is progress right?! When Ben cut the branches out, he also cut some small wood slices. That's what I used for my projects. The first is a monogrammed wood slice. Supplies Needed: Tree slice Sandpaper or sand block Cardstock (I used regular paper and then laminated it...
