Meal Plan Monday - May 7 2018

Planning our meals makes dinner time so much smoother for me, not to mention I'm able to maximize the food we have resulting in less food (translate  money ) wasted! Breakfasts I do not follow my meal plan for breakfast day by day. What I like to do is make sure I have the items on hand to make the different breakfasts listed. We have 15 laying chickens and are getting around a dozen eggs a day so eggs are  ALWAYS  for breakfast. I make waffles, muffins and french toast on my " Baking Saturdays " after checking our stock in the freezer. I've been using  THIS   recipe to make yogurt and  Our Best Bite's cinnamon rolls recipe . Lunches Lunch is the same as breakfast in that we don't necessarily follow this meal plan but I have the supplies on hand. I make our bread using a  DealsToMeals   recipe . I love this bread recipe! I can grind whole wheat and make whole wheat bread. I can use white flour and make white bread. I c...

Kid's Summer Movie Clubs

We're down to the last month of the school year! This is when I start looking for free or cheap, activities for the kids. Now that my youngest is 3, I think I'm ready to brave the theaters with my 4 kids in tow! 😉 There are several Summer Movie Programs showing already released children's movies, rated G or PG, for $1 per show OR LESS! One theater in our area is actually offering the kid movies for FREE! AMC Theaters This is the pricier of the bunch at $4+tax per ticket, but you not only get admission to the movie, but a kid's popcorn, drink, and fruit snack. Scroll down to the bottom of the web-page to see if your theater is participating. CineMark Theaters The 2018 program hasn't been released yet. In previous years you could purchase tickets for all 10 movies online for $5 or at the theater for $1 per show. I'll update this post once Cinemark has released their program. Kaysville Theatre Here's one ...

TV Stand Chalk Paint Makeover

I finished another chalk paint project that I've been wanting to do for awhile and now it's finally done! Our TV stand has been around for 11 years and 4 moves. It was banged, dinged, dented, and looked altogether ragged! Here's a close-up of the damage We keep wicker baskets in each opening and as they slide in and out it has rubbed the finish off. I decided to chalk paint again because it doesn't require sanding or priming and typically one coat is enough. Win, win, win, right?! I used leftover paint from when we first moved in and were trying to figure out what tan color to use in the front room. Mix the paint with baking soda in a one to one ratio and voila! Chalk paint! Here's the TV stand after one coat. It looks pretty good but if we get closer you can see the paint was too thin in some places so I had to do a quick second coat in certain areas. After the paint dried I used polyacrylic...
