Meal Plan Monday - April 30 2018

Sorry I've been MIA the last couple of weeks! We've been busy with birthdays and babies. But this week I have my meal plan ready for you!!! It's a busy week so I'm keeping it pretty simple with some classic standbys for my family. Breakfasts I do not follow my meal plan for breakfast day by day. What I like to do is make sure I have the items on hand to make the different breakfasts listed. We have 15 laying chickens and are getting around a dozen eggs a day so eggs are  ALWAYS  for breakfast. I make waffles, muffins and french toast on my " Baking Saturdays " after checking our stock in the freezer. I've been using  THIS  recipe to make yogurt and  Our Best Bite's cinnamon rolls recipe . Lunches Lunch is the same as breakfast in that we don't necessarily follow this meal plan but I have the supplies on hand. I make our bread using a  DealsToMeals recipe . I love this bread recipe! I can grind whole wheat and make whole...

Chalk Paint Step Stool Makeover

I have been wanting to paint our step stool for awhile and I finally got to it thanks to Mother Nature! I had been working in the yard every nice weather day, but we got a bout of rain so into the garage to paint! Our step stool is just a basic wood one from IKEA. This basic one right  HERE . We've had it for at least 5 years. That's 5 years of dirty shoes, spilled food and drinks, and drips of paint. It was ready for a face lift! See? Look at all that gunk and dirt! I decided to use chalk paint because there's no sanding or priming involved. Once your piece is clean, you're ready to paint! There's no way I'm going to shell out $30+ for store bought chalk paint when I can make it myself! I grabbed some leftover paint from another project and added baking soda in a one to one ratio. It's important to sift the baking soda so there are no lumps in your paint. Guess how I know that?! Just mix it on up!  ...

March Spending Report

We had big plans for March. March is a month of three paychecks so we planned to finish paying off the Subaru and sock away as much money as we could for a possible cross country move. We were able to do both of these things but looking at where the money went, I think we could've been tighter and the pile of cash could have been bigger. I think because we knew there were three paychecks, things felt looser, we felt more comfortable spending a little here, a little there. Well...that adds up quick! We need to get back on track for April and reviewing our March spending really threw that into focus. This month we decided to add House Projects and Car Maintenance as a category because they were taking a large chunk of the miscellaneous. If there are other categories you'd like to see broken out, please let us know! Tithing & Offerings In March we paid $708 to tithing and offerings ($10 for fast offering). The percentage is a little low because...
