Tafton is Ten {and Two Months}

Tafton's birthday was two months ago now and we wanted to share with you how he spent his birthday budget. Once our children turn 8 we give them a budget for their birthday, right now the budget is $40, that may change in the future. With that money they can choose to have a friend birthday party, or purchase a present for themselves, or a combination of the two. We give them a family birthday party regardless but it's simple with just cake and family invited.  Tafton chose to have a Nerf battle birthday party. He designed the invitations on google docs. Sorry I can't find a copy of his invite! He had a really fun time designing it though. He hand delivered them to save postage cost.  We borrowed extra Nerf guns and ammo from Grandma Shirley in case some of the boys didn't have Nerf guns. For food Tafton purchased 2 Little Caesar's pizzas, 3 large sodas, and a bag of Cheetos. I made cupcakes from what we already had in food storage and ...

Meal Plan Monday - June 25 2018

I've decided that we're going to have the same 14 dinners and just rotate them throughout the summer. This will substantially cut down on the brain power for deciding what's for dinner, what I need to shop for, and what I need to prep for the upcoming week. This is week 2. Breakfasts I do not follow my meal plan for breakfast day by day. What I like to do is make sure I have the items on hand to make the different breakfasts listed. We have 15 laying chickens and are getting around a dozen eggs a day so eggs are ALWAYS for breakfast. I make waffles, muffins and french toast on my "Baking Saturdays" after checking our stock in the freezer. I've been using  THIS  recipe to make yogurt and  Our Best Bite's cinnamon rolls  recipe. Lunches Lunch is the same as breakfast in that we don't necessarily follow this meal plan but I have the supplies on hand. I make our bread using a  DealsToMeals recipe . I love this bread rec...

May Spending Report

Omigoodness guys! May and June have been so full of activities in our family, and the spending report will really show that. May was a month of "life happening." Most sadly my Grandpa John Jensen (nice to meet ya) passed at the age of 95. We had family come into town for the funeral and had a lot of good family time celebrating his life and legacy. We went to Moab & Arches National Park for a camping trip with my sister's family; we were actually down in Moab when we got the news of my Grandpa. We had homeschool Lagoon day (a local amusement park) and the wrapping up of our school year. Busy busy and June hasn't slowed down, which is why I'm  just  getting this post together! Tithing We paid $610 to tithing. We just this year started paying our tithing based on our gross paychecks rather than net. Mortgage $883.83. Our mortgage is just the house payment. We had PMI removed last year and we manage our own escrow rather than the mo...
